The Washington State ACEC presented the Boundary Dam Special Review Project with a silver award for engineering excellence in statewide competition. The project involved innovative use of plumblines connected to the downstream face of the dam with "moveable tables" to measure horizontal deflections of the dam from crest to base. The project was designed and installed with the concurrence of FERC to provide accurate and timely data to monitor the structural integrity and safety of the dam. Acres International, jointly with Shannon & Wilson, was responsible for design through construction of the plumbline system, co-designing the measurement program and results interpretation, and managing the special review for the owner, Seattle City Light, from 1999 through 2004.

SGE Acres signed an EPC contract with the Halifax Regional Municipality on November 30 to design, build and commission a biosolids processing facility to be located near the airport. This is one component of the Harbour Solutions Project that includes sewage collection upgrades and new treatment plants. The plant, with an initial capacity of 10,500 dry tonnes/year, will process dewatered sludge generated by the treatment plants. Following the addition of an alkaline admixture and a heating/drying process, the residue will meet the standards of the Canada Fertilizer Act and will be sold as soil amendment. Work has begun and commissioning is expected in early summer of 2006.
