Oil Sands & Heavy Oil Recovery ConocoPhillips selected Acres Parsons E&C (APEC) to manage all engineering, procurement and construction activities for the Surmont Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) Project located 60 km southeast of Fort McMurray, Alberta. The assignment began in January 2004 with production scheduled for 2006, and anticipated expansion from 30,000 to 100,000 BPD of bitumen by 2012. The Surmont development is similar to the Foster Creek SAGD project for which Acres received the Consulting Engineers of Alberta Award of Excellence in 2001. GO Transit Rail Infrastructure Improvement Program Acres, as part of AGM Program Managers Inc. (an equal-ownership company formed by Acres, Giffels and Marshall Macklin Monaghan), has been awarded Program Management Consulting Services for the proposed $505 million GO Transit Rail Infrastructure Improvement Program scheduled for implementation over the next six years. The program comprises eight rail-corridor upgrades and expansions to increase the capacity of Greater Toronto's commuter rail network. In addition, AGM will assist GO Transit in overall coordination of the new project with the ongoing $480 million rail and signalling improvements at Toronto's Union Station. For more information, visit the National Concrete Bridge Council website. Successful Safety Audit in Calgary The Calgary Acres office and its Bare Creek field site just scored 92% in its annual external safety audit. The audit is a vital step in maintaining a valid Certificate of Recognition (COR) from the Alberta Construction Safety Association (ACSA) and Alberta Department of Human Resources and Employment, Workplace Health and Safety. A valid COR is necessary to obtain financial incentives through the Partners in Injury Reduction program and is often a prerequisite for Alberta government project bids. Congratulations to the Calgary team for their excellent grade. Annual H.G. Acres Seminar Acres Central Hydro Business Unit is pleased to announce that the 2004 Annual H. G.
