Building a bridge to better times
Kazakhstan, ninth-largest country in the world, is busy putting its years as a Soviet republic behind it. One highly symbolic move was the establishment of a new capital city, Astana, located on the age-old East-West trade route across the Steppes, the Silk Road. Acres has been invited to design a highly visible bridge linking the city center to the airport.
