Jeremy Silcox has been in the mechanical engineering department with Acres Manitoba since February 2003.
Since joining Acres, Jeremy has provided engineering services on various industrial and hydroelectric projects, often in the field and on site. His positive perspective and eagerness to pitch in wherever possible have naturally led to a wide range of valuable experience for such a young engineer.

For instance, he performed the on-site analysis of the water supply and storage system at Birchtree Mine, and the detailed design of several process tank replacements

for Inco. He has also performed design for asbestos abatement projects, smelter operator analysis stations, and various features of Manitoba Hydro’s proposed Wuskwatim generating station, including the development of an embedded pipe plan and design evaluations of gantry cranes and intake gates.

Jeremy’s insatiable thirst for knowledge is most often quenched the good old-fashioned way. He calls it "getting down and dirty" and revels in stories of wading through muck in a refinery basement, and scaling walls of whiskey barrels to collect as-built data for a distillery.

His hands-on approach also spills over to his community life. Jeremy has founded cycling clubs, organized mountain bike races, served on various student and sporting associations, and is currently spearheading the rebuilding of Manitoba’s professional chapter of the Institute of Industrial Engineers.

Now in the process of restoring a 1955 Buick Century, Jeremy is definitely an engineer who doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty – and, most importantly for Acres clients, one who doesn’t settle for anything short of success.
