Leading the way in Atlantic Canada

The SGE Group and Acres International merge to create stronger Atlantic Canadian Firm

The SGE Group was founded in 1972 and has approximately 100 employees located in offices in St. John's, Corner Brook, Clarenville, Moncton and Halifax. The firm provides design, mining, planning, engineering and management services mainly to the municipal, transportation and infrastructure, and industrial sectors.

Acres has been operating from five offices in Atlantic Canada, the first of which was opened back in 1965.

"This merger will bring together the greatest strengths of the SGE Group and Acres," says Allan Green, former president of SGE and president of the new firm. "We are now well placed to deliver a full portfolio of leading edge services to a broader range of clients from both inside and outside our region. One of our goals is to build a dynamic firm that will create opportunities for Atlantic Canadians by offering our services worldwide."

Eight offices throughout Atlantic Canada for strong local service

Tony Hylton, president of Acres International, says, "I am delighted with this merger. SGE Acres will have the scale and capability to contribute in a bigger way to the growth and development of the Atlantic Region." Mr Hylton added, "We also strongly support the goal of making this new entity successful in bringing its combination of capabilities into markets outside the region. This will create a growing firm and attract the considerable engineering talent in the region towards our company."

The new company is pursuing major East Coast projects in the power, mining, offshore oil & gas, infrastructure, and transportation sectors.
