Takin' care of business Winnipeg has a rich musical history (including the famous rock song referenced above), so it’s no surprise that there’s solid prairie rhythm running through Richard Marynick’s veins. He’s been drumming since he was 13, everywhere from wedding halls to the main stages at Portage and Main.
He’s our resident expert in automation and control systems, including programmable logic control (PLC) and distributed control system (DCS) programming, human-machine interface (HMI) design and software development. He supervises a team of designers, engineers and CAD operators in conceptual, preliminary and detailed design to provide turnkey solutions for our clients. Richard serves clients such as Inco in Thompson, HBM&S, TANCO, Gerdau Ameristeel, Griffin Steel and Shell. Some recent accomplishments include: design and commissioning of the Winnipeg Airport’s new Central Deicing Facility, including a cargo apron for FedEx; and design of a diesel power generating station for Hydro One in Deer Lake, Ontario, featuring 3 MW of diesel power generation together with switchgear, MCCs integrated with Modicon PLCs, and panel-view HMIs connected on a MOD-Bus Network. In addition to keeping the tempo up with the IRP team, Richard likes to jam with our other business unit coordinators to ensure clients have single-source access to multidisciplinary resources across the company. Whether he’s behind a drum kit, a microphone or a computer keyboard, on stage or on site, Richard makes sure the audience gets a solid performance. |
