		Taking stock 2005 was a year of major change for our organization – Hatch Acres President Tony Hylton reviews some of the highlights and discusses what is in store for 2006.

		Moving windward Diana Hurdowar-Castro is a Senior Water Resources Engineer with Synexus Global, located in Niagara Falls, Ontario. She is a currently completing her PhD in wind-driven hydrodynamics at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. She discusses the growing popularity of wind power in the context of a recent study for Manitoba Hydro.

Protecting Winnipeg
We have been involved with the Red River Floodway since designing the original Seine River inverted syphon, and the inlet and outlet works in the early 1960s. After the ‘Flood of the Century’ in 1997, the Manitoba Floodway Authority was established to oversee a major expansion. Now we are part of a consortium of firms responsible for detailed design and construction administration work that will more than double channel capacity and increase Winnipeg’s flood protection.
