SUMMER 2006

Welcome to Hatch Energy

Hatch Energy President Tony Hylton

I am very pleased to announce a further major step in our evolution as a professional firm serving the energy and power sectors. On August 1 we began the process of rebranding under the name of Hatch Energy.

By adopting the brand of Hatch Energy to define our own specialized capabilities and experience in energy and power, we can expand our activities with the confidence that comes from a closer alignment with The Hatch Group. With 7,200 employees in 80 offices on six continents, The Hatch Group has a reputation as the pre-eminent provider of multidiscipline services to the mining, metals, energy and infrastructure sectors. Drawing on this brand equity will allow Hatch Energy to compete for much larger projects in the global marketplace.

Our predecessor companies, Hatch Acres, which has focused primarily on the power sector (hydro, thermal, nuclear, T&D and wind), and Hatch Optima, which has worked to date on Alberta oil sands projects, become Hatch Energy immediately. Combining them allows for cross-fertilization of staff, technologies and processes that will directly benefit our clients. Our subsidiary, Acres International, will continue its work overseas while Acres Manitoba will retain its name because of its special relationship with the province and our principal clients there.

Our new logo is featured at the top of this newsletter, and our website is now hatchenergy.com, which continues to house a wide range of information about our services, projects and regional contacts.

We are busy and have a strong backlog of work. The global energy business is predicted to grow at an unprecedented rate in the near term, and we have many exciting new opportunities such as greenfield hydro projects, oil sands development in Canada, as well as thermal power and transmission projects around the world.

Our name change may be a simple matter, but it is a major one for our advancement in the global marketplace. The name Hatch Energy puts us in greater alignment with our long-term objectives, increases our visibility on the world stage and focuses on our strengths.

We have seen many great successes since joining Hatch and look forward to even greater days ahead.
