The T&D group recently won a significant amount of power system study and station upgrade work for Central Maine Power. This work includes three area reliability assessments using the GE Positive Sequence Load Flow program which is preferred by the client. Work is already under way on a separate project to update CMP’s relay protection at a 345-kV/115-kV substation. We are also providing design services for the Kimball Road substation expansion in Harrison, including an extension of the existing 115-kV station bus, a new 34-kV bus and outgoing circuits, and re-assignment of 115-kV bays for the incoming lines.
Having similar success in New York, we are presently working on 42 substations for New York State Electricity and Gas. Work will bring the older stations up to modern standards and increase their capabilities. This involves ‘brown field’ work in live, fully operational substations, which is a core capability of our T&D group. The projects will be divided into two groups: relay and telecom-related; and transformer, circuit breaker and insulator replacement.
