Water Management Planning for Government
Hatch Energy has prepared water management plans for several river systems on behalf of Ontario’s Ministry of Natural Resources.
We prepared a water management operations plan for the Magnetawan River near Parry Sound. The work included a review of operational, and preparation of a plan that considered various water uses throughout the watershed, such as fish and wildlife, navigation, electric power generation, recreation and flood control.
The Magnetawan River watershed extends over 122 km from Algonquin Provincial Park to Georgian Bay and encompasses an area of 2850 km2.
Other assignments have included a water management plan that took into consideration flood, fisheries, recreation and tourism concerns on the Sturgeon River/Lake Nipissing/French River system, as well as a reservoir simulation planning model of the Bonnechere River system which evaluated two alternative operational strategies.
For the Muskoka River system we developed an operational water balance model with 34 water regulatory structures, including nine hydroelectric stations.
