Study of Rule Curve Change on Lake Simcoe, Lake Couchiching and Trent Severn WaterwayHatch Energy assessed the physical, environmental and socioeconomic impacts of modifications to the water control structure operating policy for the Trent Severn River system. Computer-based simulation models were used to predict impacts on water levels and river flow over a wide range of hydrologic conditions for specified operating policy changes. |
A reduction in winter water levels to improve flow regulation was recommended. Other alternatives included use of spring forecasting, higher summer water levels and complementary releases dependent on unregulated tributary flows. |
