Monte Rio Power Project, Dominican Republic

Hatch Energy is providing independent engineer services to a group of lenders for review of this project, which consists of thirteen 8-MW heavy oil-fired, medium speed, diesel generating units. Engine exhaust heat is used to produce steam for heating the fuel oil.

Fuel delivery facilities are included for delivery by sea and by road tanker. A new 15-km long 138-kV transmission line will connect the plant to the national grid. The work involves reviews of facilities design, contracting and construction progress to ensure compliance with operating objectives. In addition to a technical review report the work includes periodic monitoring and inspection of construction progress as well as witnessing acceptance testing at the completion of construction.
