Oil and Gas

Hatch Energy has a long history in the Canadian offshore and on-shore petroleum industries as well as diverse experience in the US, Australia and the Middle East. We focus on upstream oil sands, downstream, and conventional gas and sulfur developments.

Upstream oil sands
We provide expertise for mineable oil sands and in situ oil recovery including steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD).

Downstream
We provide engineering services for bitumen and heavy oil upgrading, refining, utilities and offsites, cogeneration capabilities, oil storage and pipelines, sulfur and coke handling, LNG with focus on shale-to-liquids, gas-to-liquids, and coal-to-liquids.

Conventional (Gas and sulphur)
Our technology base includes dense phase CO₂, CO₂ floods enhanced oil recovery (EOR), CO₂ capture and sequestration, sour gas treatment; hydrocarbon processing; gas processing for dew point control; acid gas injection; field compression; uses of sulfur including sulfur recovery and handling.

We provide everything from turnkey construction to plant expansions and retrofit projects, and offer in-house expertise for all project management, process design, engineering, procurement and construction activities.

Value-added systems and technologies
Hatch and several partners recently created the N-Solv Corporation which holds patents for the proprietary N-Solv in-situ technology for solvent extraction of bitumen from oil sands. The process uses 90 percent less energy, uses no water and has 80-90 percent less environmental impact than SAGD, the main competing technology.

In the Middle East, the Hatch-OGI joint venture pursues engineering, procurement, and construction management work in the upstream petroleum refining and electric power development business areas.
