Nuclear Power

Since the early 1970s Hatch Energy has provided a range of services to nuclear plants in North America, and around the world. Our major involvement has been with CANDU plants and facilities, beginning with the Point Lepreau Generating Station in New Brunswick, which began commercial operation in 1983. Other major projects were at sites in South Korea and Argentina, in addition to many assignments at the Darlington, Bruce and Pickering facilities in Ontario, Canada.

In 1999 we entered into a joint venture with Sargent & Lundy of Chicago. The partnership offers experience gained in over 24 000 MW of new plant design, and a wide range of operations, maintenance and decommissioning projects at 100 or more units.

This partnership was further reinforced in 2001 by the addition of E.S. Fox Ltd, to form the ASLF joint venture. ASLF carried out the award-winning restart of units 3 and 4 at Bruce A nuclear generating facility. Click the Project Experience tab for a detailed description of this $340-million project.

The ASLF JV is currently working in a similar role for the restart of units 1 and 2 at Bruce.
