Wolsung-1 Nuclear Power Station, South Korea
Hatch Energy played a major role in the construction of a 600-MWe CANDU plant at Ulsan in South Korea. The client was Atomic Energy of Canada Limited, (AECL) working for the Korea Electric Company. AECL took responsibility for nuclear steam supply systems while Hatch Energy provided complete balance-of-plant engineering.
Work included civil engineering for the turbine building, pump house and switchyard; mechanical thermal engineering for steam supply, condensate and boiler feedwater; mechanical services for layout, piping, fire protection, drainage, heating and ventilation; electrical design of a 345/154-kV switchyard, station power distribution and standby power; and design and installation of instrumentation and controls.

Hatch Energy was also responsible for procurement of balance-of-plant equipment and supplies, and prepared associated testing, commissioning and operating manuals.
