Hazardous Materials Storage at Darlington Nuclear GS, Ontario

The Acres-Sargent & Lundy Partnership designed and built a special-purpose structure at Darlington nuclear power plant for safe storage and handling of hazardous materials. Construction was handled by Acres CPI on an EPC basis, with Ball Construction as the lead contractor.

The building has an open area for storage of gas cylinders, and separate rooms for materials with high flash points and low flash points, plus rooms for lube oil and heavy water (D2O) storage and dispensing.

In order to avoid contamination of the environment in case of an accidental spill, the floor areas drain to a double containment underground storage tank.
