The Elizabeth Falls hydroelectric development, which would be located on a First Nation Reserve, would increase reliability and quality of power for remote, northern communities and mines. Its optimal capacity was determined to be in the 40-MW range. Hatch Energy prepared various financial ownership and power sales structures; assessed alternate design and regulatory scenarios; prepared investor information documents; and outlined an Investment Trust arrangement to maximize benefits for all stakeholders. We also reviewed carbon-credits eligibility under the Kyoto Protocol and performed a detailed transmission planning analysis to identify likely impacts on the far north transmission system, taking into account seasonal load and generation variations.
