Mae Ngat Power Project, Thailand
The 9-MW Mae Ngat power station was commissioned in 1985. It is located in northern Thailand at the outlet of a medium-sized irrigation dam on a reservoir with a capacity of 260 million cubic meters . Hatch Energy carried out feasibility studies and final design, guided construction supervision and reviewed the contractor's drawings for the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand.
The design reflected the fact that the plant must generate at discharges set by irrigation demands. Engineeirng costs were minimized by preparing one overall design transmittal. The supply of electrical and mechanical equipment was limited to one contract to minimize costs and make the package attractive for international bidding.
