MacKay Units 1-3
Post-Upgrade Performance Test

The MacKay Generating Station is located on the Montreal River approximately 100 km North of Sault Ste Marie, Ontario and several kilometers East of Highway 17. The three units at the station were originally installed over the period 1938 to 1956.

Hatch Energy's scope of services included all necessary tasks to prepare for, execute and document the efficiency testing of Units 1, 2 and 3. In particular, the scope included:

  • collection of relevant documentation
  • preparation of test procedure and organization of test in accordance with IEC 60041
  • assembly and preparation of test equipment
  • execution of test using a team of four plus client personnel
  • collection of all necessary data to determine unit performance characteristics over the complete range of possible operating conditions
  • analysis of data
  • documentation of results.

The performance testing carried out by Hatch Energy demonstrated, with a high degree of confidence based on two independent absolute flow measurement methods, that the turbine supplier's guarantees had been met.
