On behalf of the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, Hatch Energy has carried out safety reviews of 19 dams owned by the Ministry. Fourteen dams in Northwestern Ontario were visited: their history was reviewed, stability assessments made, hydrology studied, and where necessary, recommendations were made for remedial measures. Emergency preparedness plans were written for each location. Five dams and a historic lock structure in other parts of the province were reviewed and a number of proposals for remedial work and further study were submitted.
