Energy Strategy Planning

Hatch Energy focuses on developing long-term improvement programs and establishing a process of knowledge transfer and development to enhance the capability of site energy teams and ensure sustainable results. With this goal in mind, the Hatch Energy team develops strategic management plans specifically designed to optimize site energy performance, while taking into account the site’s ability and a suitable timeframe within which to implement the program.

The Hatch Energy process helps sites identify areas for improvement in their current program and assists the site team with developing practical ways to fill the gaps. This establishes a solid foundation for improvement on which the team can build a structured process for identifying and implementing prioritized improvement opportunities.

Our strategic plan draws on the outcomes from a range of investigations and services to establish a structured and comprehensive roadmap for improvement. Our strategic planning process includes:

  • Establishing an energy performance baseline
  • Reviewing existing and historical energy management activities
  • Identifying both quantitative and qualitative opportunities for improvement
    • Includes evidence of cost/benefit and site ability to achieve identified initiatives
  • Defining the overall target and timeframe for implementation, based on identified opportunities
    • Includes development of interim targets based on project prioritization and development of short-term detailed plans designed to encourage immediate action.

This structured approach demonstrates the value of implementing a framework for improvement and allows site personnel to see clearly that the management team is committed to the process. It also shows that the targets have been thought through and that the site team has a reasonable opportunity for success. This is a critical step in obtaining site personnel buy-in and support, which is essential for a successful and effective program.
