Energy Management Diagnostic
Hatch Energy performed an energy management diagnostic for St Marys Cement in Bowmanville, Ontario and helped to raise energy conservation awareness on site. As a result, St Marys undertook energy training activities with their employees and solicited ideas from workers. Branding their Energy Management Conservation Committee as E=mc2, the site energy team was able to increase enthusiasm for energy conservation that resulted in $430,000 in implemented energy savings.
The practical solutions identified by workers included installation of photo cells in unoccupied areas, optimization of a bypass fan system, changing programming and set points for the baghouse fan and installing ceiling fans in the quarry shop to push hot air down to the occupied areas.
