Asset Management

Enterprise Asset Management

Synexus Global, a business unit of Hatch Energy, develops and uses computer and internet-based software to help clients maximize asset performance and return on investment. All solutions are benefits-driven, either to increase production or reduce the costs of production, while harmonizing profitability and environmental concerns.

Construction Management

Hatch Energy works for clients around the world to ensure that projects are executed on-time and within budget. On small projects, one person may be responsible for construction management services; on larger projects field engineers and supervisors, surveyors and inspectors, will report to a construction manager.

Typical tasks include preparation of contracts and post-award administration of those contracts. Hatch Energy staff monitors all construction operations with particular attention paid to organization, planning, interface with contractors, safety, commissioning, and startup.

Due Diligence

Hatch Energy carries out condition and cost assessments for clients to confirm the bases of business sales, acquisitions or improvements. Such work can assist in establishing fair values, confirm ROI, and validate proposed agreements or contracts. Among areas reviewed are documents, personnel, cost estimates, engineering basis, construction costs, and decision prudency.

Engineering

Depth of knowledge sets Hatch Energy engineers apart. Much of that knowledge is drawn from training and personal experience, but much more is to be found in corporate resources, accessible wherever Hatch Energy people or Hatch Energy associates are working.

Today, no single individual can keep abreast of all the technologies that engineers use in the planning, design and execution of projects. It takes a body of experienced people, an ever-growing archive, and the means to locate and retrieve relevant information.

Our resources cover all the basic engineering and project execution disciplines: civil, electrical, geotechnical, hydraulic, mechanical, procurement and project services. Other specialties include planning, and environmental management.

EPCM

Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management

Services which are usually supplied individually can be combined to give clients a package of services from a single supplier. Hatch Energy has long experience operating in full EPCM mode, acting as Owner's Engineer. This experience spans all our major business sectors in the power generation, electricity transmission and oil and gas sectors.

Feasibility Studies

Prefeasibility Studies

Examination of fundamental issues surrounding a project, to evaluate primary benefits and costs and define Terms of Reference for subsequent studies. Computer planning models are frequently used.

Feasibility Studies, Preliminary Engineering

Preparation of cost estimates for construction and operation; assessment of engineering and economic feasibility; cost-benefit analyses to determine long-term viability of projects, and to support financial negotiations. Occasionally, permit applications are also made at this stage.

Manufacturing QA

Inspection, QA, in manufactured components

The Hatch Energy approach ensures that quality issues are addressed during the construction process, not postponed until something goes wrong. The service covers all fabricated mechanical, electrical and civil products, and ensures that they comply with contractual requirements.

QA systems will comply with Canadian (Z299 series), International (ISO 9000 series) or any other QA standards, as required. Where suppliers have no in-plant accreditation system in place, Hatch Energy will do all that is necessary to ensure that required procedures are applied to products supplied under contract.

Procurement

Procurement and Contract Administration

Hatch Energy's procurement services include purchase of materials, equipment and services at the lowest cost compatible with meeting project goals. The Hatch Energy approach is built around a strategy which cross-references cost estimates and contract packages to ensure all components are delivered as required.

All services are provided, from advertising and tender invitation to final acceptance at contract completion. All bidders, tenders, bid evaluations and awards will be pre-qualified, and awarded contracts will be administered, in such a way as to ensure optimum results for the owners.

Project Management

For more than 80 years, Hatch Energy has provided project management services to a wide range of clients. Services are tailored to client needs; they range from direction of multiple projects to management of individual components within a project. Typical services include planning, scheduling, procurement, contract administration, cost management, construction management, manufacturing quality assurance and QC, with necessary reporting systems to keep clients informed. Financial and economic analyses, risk assessments and contract preparation are often also included.

Planning and Scheduling

Hatch Energy's planning services combine work scope definition with appropriate project logic methodology. Work breakdown structures define parcels of work, which are coded for use in scheduling and cost management applications. Definition of activities, durations, relationships and constraints are all carefully considered.

Risk Management

Risk management calculates the various types of risk to which a project is exposed. They include financial viability and the possibility of equipment failure. The end result is a high-quality scientific analysis, and recommendations based on more than 80 years of project management experience.
